SMC GreenSeal Press Release

FIVE OF NINE GREEN SEAL® GS-42 CERTIFIED SERVICES ARE SERVICEMASTER CLEAN® FRANCHISES

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (August 1, 2008) – ServiceMaster Clean announced today that five of the nine Green Seal GS-42 certified services in America are ServiceMaster Clean franchises. Internationally-recognized as a leader in the cleaning and restoration industry, ServiceMaster Clean has forged a long-term commitment to environmental stewardship through certified green cleaning products and proprietary cleaning systems and processes via branded GoGreen initiatives such as the line of Green For® products and the patent-pending Capture and Removal Cleaning® system. Working closely with Green Seal, the premier US environmental leadership ecolabel, the five ServiceMaster Clean franchises attained the coveted GS-42 certification, the environmental standard for green cleaning services, by completing a rigorous certification and audit of their cleaning services. With the landmark certification of five franchises, ServiceMaster Clean continues to be a standard-bearer for green initiatives in the cleaning industry.

The five Green Seal GS-42 certified ServiceMaster Clean services represent a cross-section of American states: New Mexico, Arizona, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The GS-42 certified services are provided by: ServiceMaster by Brown, owned by Ed and Mary Pat Cook of Albuquerque, NM; ServiceMaster Professional Cleaning Services, owned by David Cottle of Prescott, AZ; ServiceMaster Green, owned by Rich Emery of Des Moines, IA; ServiceMaster Commercial Systems, owned by Mark and Chris Peterson of Bloomington, MN; and, ServiceMaster Building Maintenance, owned by Curt and Debbi Bembenek of Madison, WI.

Driven by the desire to make their business processes more environmentally responsible, as well as healthier for their customers and service workers, these five franchises serve as examples of how implementing the ServiceMaster Clean core objectives to “do the right thing” and to be environmental stewards can help grow and sustain a business. ServiceMaster Clean anticipates an additional six franchises around the country will achieve GS-42 certification by end-of-year 2008.
