ServiceMaster Clean provides personal care.
A grease fire in a homeowner’s kitchen stove burned a cabinet and created soot damage on both the first and second floors. One of the owners experienced severe smoke inhalation. Retired musicians, the homeowners were especially concerned about restoring their baby grand piano, fine oriental rugs, artwork, and their collections of books and record albums. Because the wife’s 94-year-old mother lived with them, and they were concerned about her stress level, the quality of personal service was extremely important. And that’s exactly what ServiceMaster Clean provided—personal, caring service for not only the homeowner’s belongings, but for them as well.
“Trauma brought ServiceMaster Clean to our house, yet from that moment on, for one and a half weeks, their presence, their expertise, thoroughness and extraordinary kindness helped ease our way not only to a completely clean house but also a new tranquility. It has been a pleasure to know them and their crew.”

Courtney, a graduate student, lived in an apartment on the second floor of a typical old New England clapboard home. Late in the evening in early May, a propane tank exploded on the porch behind her apartment. The tenants literally ran out of the structure, gathering only car keys, laptops and purses.
With the explosion occurring dangerously close to her bedroom, Courtney was very upset. Her five-room apartment was uninhabitable and soot heavily damaged all her belongings. With Courtney’s family across country, she faced final exams homeless. Courtney’s insurance only covered her final moving expenses, not salvaging her belongings or moving her things to storage. Courtney called ServiceMaster Clean two days later to save her personal belongings. An emergency team responded within the hour—bearing flowers and a plan.
ServiceMaster Clean helped Courtney pack up her belongings. They provided her with the name of the moving company to move all of her belongings into storage. Although Courtney’s landlord offered another apartment in the building, Courtney wanted a quiet place to study and recover from the trauma. That’s when ServiceMaster Clean gave Courtney the name of nearby landlord who would sublet for a month at no charge. Courtney accepted, but insisted on paying.
When ServiceMaster Clean received permission to clean Courtney’s stored belongings, they asked her what she needed first. Courtney requested her coffee pot to help her study for exams. ServiceMaster Clean found the coffee pot in storage, cleaned it and sent it to where she was staying.
When Courtney’s apartment was restored a month later, ServiceMaster Clean employees used their personal vehicles to move Courtney’s belongings to her apartment because there was no insurance coverage.
Thanks to ServiceMaster Clean, Courtney not only got through her exams but also did well.
Here’s what Courtney’s mom had to say:
“My name is Sue, and Courtney is our daughter. I cannot begin to convey how grateful we are for everything ServiceMaster Clean has done for her. Courtney is a kind and generous soul. From her comments, so is ServiceMaster Clean. She was so appreciative of the… gentle, respectful, and professional way they helped her.”

ServiceMaster Clean really cares.
In 2007, the county where Lauren lives declared a state of emergency due to heavy rainfall and widespread flooding. Severe rain turned the field behind Lauren’s home into a lake. For three days water drained into the family-of-four’s nicely finished basement, just as they prepared to leave for a long-planned vacation. Water soaked the carpet and pad in the family room and hall, as well as the linoleum in the bathroom and laundry area. Water damaged many large and heavy items, including upholstered furniture, a billiard table, exercise equipment and toys. The walls were saturated at the 5-inch mark.
Lauren contacted ServiceMaster Clean after seeing a listing in the yellow pages. While widespread flooding stretched crews and resources, ServiceMater Clean talked Lauren through the extraction process until a crew could get to her home. Two days later, a ServiceMaster Clean team was on site to restore the homes downstairs carpet and walls. Lauren gave ServiceMaster Clean the keys to the house, and she and her family were able to go on their well-deserved vacation.
“I want to thank ServiceMaster Clean for the wonderful job they did restoring my furniture and belongings. I was touched by how much time, thought and energy they put into the job. Their help was invaluable to me in getting back on my feet.”

ServiceMaster Clean wins the battle to save serviceman’s home.
January is an extremely busy month for ServiceMaster Clean. Burst pipes keep crews working 20 hour shifts, seven days a week. But when a call comes in on a Sunday that a home with broken pipes belongs to a serviceman who’s on active duty thousands of miles away, ServiceMaster Clean pushed the bounds of what’s humanly possible.
A crew was on site in two hours to discover a home severely damaged by water. There were at least five pipe breaks, including a gusher on the third level. Water rampaged through three floors of drywall, ceilings, flooring, carpets and pads. It even shorted the electrical panel. Plus, the propane tank was empty so there was no heat.
ServiceMaster Clean did what it does best — marshal the many skills and services needed to secure a home fast and restore peace of mind. Heaters were brought on site for the crews securing the home. They worked tirelessly to remove 130 bags of debris in the first 24 hours. ServiceMaster Clean also rallied already-busy electricians and plumbers to repair the pipes and the electrical system.
Burst pipes are never a pleasant experience, especially when you’re out of town, but you can tell from this homeowner’s heart-felt letter that he was very pleased with our service.
“I would like to extend to you my sincere thanks for you superior service and commend you on a job well done. While I recognize that water emergencies such as the one I experienced (about $150K worth) are squarely within your expertise and fairly routine for you, I have to tell you that it was immensely satisfying to work with an organization that nevertheless paid as much attention to detail and customer service as your outfit did. Most every company provides 'customer service' but not every company provides GREAT customer service. ServiceMaster Clean certainly provided me great customer service. Every person I ever spoke with— from the initial intake, through the workers, to the management—handled both my case and me with personalized attention and care. I was very, very impressed at every instance. As an active duty military member who had to arrange this from a great distance away, I can well appreciate what you were able to accomplish and the quality of your personnel.”
