What Is Microfiber?

  • Microfiber is a synthetic fiber commonly made up of a blend of polyester and polyamide or nylon. Microfibers are tiny fibers that have been slit into millions of finer fibers that are no thicker than one-sixteenth of a human hair.
  • Production of microfiber dates back to the late 1950s, but until recently the use of microfiber was limited. Why is microfiber part of the ServiceMaster Clean Cleaning System?
  • The millions of strands created from the splitting process create a surface capable of trapping moisture, dirt, and debris.
  • Microfibers have a positive charge that attracts dust, which has a negative charge. Dust and dirt particles are not only attracted to the microfiber but are held tightly and not redistributed around the room.
  • Microfiber cloths remove 99% of bacteria on a surface compared to 33% using industry-standard terrycloth.
  • Less water and chemicals (if any) are used, making microfiber cloths and mop pads cost-effective and environmentally responsible.
  • In addition to being used for wiping down traditional surfaces, microfiber cloths are extremely soft and can be used on most surfaces including floors, walls, ceilings, windows, mirrors, and harder-to-reach areas.
